THE BEVERLY HILL BILLIES DISCOGRAPHY

By Ken Griffis

I would like to give proper credit to two individuals who assisted with this compilation. William Tolin of Tustin, California--a long time Hill Billie fan--was most helpful. My good friend, "Mr. Americana," Stanley Kilarr of Klamath Falls, Oregon, one of the notable music historians of this erai contributed valuable advice to this entire project.

Revised by Cary Ginnell
Personnel is not identified in the original discography, however, the article does list the lineup that appeared on radio on April 6, 1930, just a few weeks before the group's first recording session for Brunswick. They include Leo "Zeke Craddock" Mannes (later Zeke Manners), Tom Murray, Cyprian "Ezra Longnecker" Paulette, & Henry "Hank Skillet" Blaeholder. A month later, Aleth Hansen, alias "Lem H. Giles, H.D." was added.

All sessions took place in Los Angeles, except where indicated. (I've added composer credits where I have actual discs.)

note: ARC issues refer to several budget labels pressed by the American Record Corporation. Beginning in 1935 Banner, Melotone, Perfect, and Romeo were issued with a unified numbering system (year-month-release number) but all numbers were not necessarily released on all labels and it is possible that by 1938 only Perfect survived.
