Coot GRANT and Sox WILSON Real names Leola B. Wilson (nee Pettigrew) born June 17,1893 and “Kid” Wesley Wilson, (born Oct. 1, 1893- died Oct 10, 1958 in Cape May Court House, NJ.) Recorded extensively for race labels beginning in the mid-1920's, including their classic "Keep Your Hands Off My Mojo" for Okeh. Prolific songwriters and popular performers, the team appeared in the film Emperor Jones in 1933. Their popularity waned in the late 1930’s and Sox was in ill health by the 1950’s. First, a very special bit of curiosa Americana by Wilson with Harry McDaniels. It was ensconced in Columbia’s race catalog and sported what was arguably the most pungent artist credit of the decade. -- as Pigmeat Pete and Catjuice Charlie, New York City July 18, 1929 Get Your Mind Out of the Gutter (Wilson) Columbia 14452-D -- Coot Grant & Sox Wilson Los Angeles, 1950.
